Michio Kaku on Artificial Intelligence

just to be clear I’m a big fan of professor Kaku, however I don’t really agree with a couple of his opinions on AI.

here’s the link to a (relatively old) talk by Rodney Brooks whom I personally consider the Kakuesque visionary of AI.

although this is a relatively old video there had already been massive breakthroughs in AI, the way that Brooks builds his machines is with an original architecture that he has been working on since the 70′s. He has built this up from scratch by hand (that’s right he’s an electrical engineer, not a physicist, LOL!) and the studies coming out of MIT are looking very promising but realistically with the developments in genetic algorithms (see an article on the new scientist website called evolved invention) and I honestly think that the so called singularity could be just around the corner.
